Many of you are carrying a typical, store-bought bag that doesn’t suit your needs. Whether that means not enough pockets, incorrect sizing, or just cheap construction, these bags don’t make the cut. That’s why, here at Mernara Co., we create handmade totes, purses, and wallets that are stylish, organized, and high quality. We create our bags with a variety of durable materials including leather, canvas, and cork. This means that they’ll withstand the test of time and allow you to live with confidence and style.

All of our bags are handmade by our founder, Kara. Her grandmother was the one who taught her to sew, so she grew up making small projects when she visited her grandparents. Kara has always enjoyed working on various kinds of crafts, and a few years ago she started to focus on sewing. She quickly realized that she didn’t have the patience for quilting, and her clothing projects were a bit of a flop, so she turned to bagmaking. She quickly fell in love with the craft, and that was how Mernara Co. was born.

The process of making a bag starts with the selection of a pattern. After the design is chosen, we handpick the fabrics for the bag based on what needs the bag will fulfill. The complementing hardware is also chosen at this point. Once the materials have been chosen, all of the pieces of the bag are cut and prepped by hand. As soon as all of the elements of the bag are ready to go, we sew up the bag with painstaking detail and precision.
